Museum of the Estonian Military Academy in Tartu is closed for renovation
The branch of the Estonian War Museum in Tartu, Museum of the Estonian Military Academy will be closed to visitors until the end of 2026 in order to undergo extensive renovations. A new exhibition on the history of the Estonian Defence Forces and military education will be created, and the museum’s accessibility will be improved.
The core of the new exhibition will still be the collection of the Museum of the Estonian Military Academy, which provides an overview of the history of the Estonian Defence Forces from the creation of the Estonian army on the eve of the War of Independence to the present day. A significant part of the exhibition will be devoted to the history of military education in Estonia.
In addition to the new content, accessibility will also be improved. Visiting the museum will no longer require advance booking; visitors will be able to enter directly from the street. With the support of the INTERREG Estonia-Latvia program 2021-2027 project MIL-HER Accessible, a new exhibition will be created taking into account accessibility requirements, so that everyone can feel welcome.
The renovated branch of the Estonian War Museum in Tartu will open in 2027.
