Warsaw Rising 1944

This exposition brings to the audience the story of the uprising of Polish people against the Third Reich starting on 1 August 1944 in Warsaw. Polish underground army, Armija Krajowa, decided to undertake the fight to take back the power in the capital of Poland and meet the approaching Soviet troops as an independent country.

The help from the Allies to the insurgents was not sufficient, the same time Stalin delayed the onslaught on Warsaw. The Polish People's Army could not resist the German army for very long. In 63 days, the uprising ended in defeat, after which Hitler gave orders to deport or kill the residents of Warsaw and destruct the city to completely obliterate the capital of Poland.

The exhibition was brought to Estonia from the Warsaw Rising Museum in cooperation with the Polish Embassy and the Estonian War Museum and will remain open until August 29, 2019.
